futsalplanet.com - Best Player 2006

Dear futsal friends,
one more edition, the seventh, of the Futsalplanet Awards came to an end. As announced some months ago, the 2006 Edition of our Awards was going to celebrate the unique category of “Best Player Of the World”, with the National team coaches beeing the only group of futsal related persons allowed to take part in the annual voting.

No surprises in finding out the name of the winner. After one more impressive season our voters expressed a clear preference in favour of Alessandro Rosa Vieira, everywhere known as Falcão. The brazilian worldwide absolute star of futsal gained a total amount of 88 points , closing the final standing with more that 50 advantage points over the Division De Honor top players Schumacher (second classified with 35 points) and Luis Amado (third one with 32 pts). The leading trio was followed by Marquinho and Kike (his 5th position was maybe the only surprising data, taking in consideration the great season experienced by the spanish cierre of ElPozo Murcia).

Coming back to the undisputed winner of the Futsalplanet Awards 2006, we have to remind the unbelievable 12 months spent by the craque Falcão.

The Malwee/Jaraguà’s talent took his club to conquer one more edition of the Taça Brasil de Clubes (best player of the competition), as well as the estadual title of Santa Catarina and the second triumph of the club in the Copa Santa Catarina. Also, he was one of the main character of the Super Liga 2006 (winner with Malwee and top scorer of the competition).
South American futsal is Falcão’s property as well, considering the clear victory in the Conmebol Futsal Cup 2006 (South Zone in September 2006 with the final played in Colombia in April 2007: top scorer of the competition).
With the Brazilian national team he conquered the Grand Prix 2006, beeing the top scorer of the Caxias do Sul event.
The only disappointing results (if we can say that!) of the season came from the Liga Futsal Final lost to ACBF (tough Falcão was awarded as best player and best flank of the league) and from the Intercontinental Cup final lost once again to Boomerang Interviu in Brusque.
Last but not least, Falcão got the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico by the brazilian COB, given to a futsal player for the first ever time.

Can you ask for more? This is the second triumph of Falcão in the Best Player of the World Category, after the 2004 edition victory .
