Here we are, ready to introduce the third day and consequent category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2010, 11th Edition of the annual prizes released by Futsalplanet.com!
As pointed out in the past edition the award dedicated to the futsal referees is special to us, as few people seem to understand the primary role they play in a sport (not only futsal, even though futsal is THE SPORT!) There's a lot of talking about concepts like Fair Play and Respect, but still a multitude of people involved in a game is unable to accept a referee decision! Do you really think that you lose cause of referees? And above all, why do you forget about referees when you win, claiming your skills and merits? That's the question! From the futsalplanet.com perspective of the sport... long life to referees! Professional complainers are not welcome!
But now let's come back to our awards, the moment of truth is here! Who was the best referee of the world during the year 2010? In the past years we've been to Spain (Galan Nieto), Portugal (Cardoso), Hungary (Torok) and Brazil (Bonnaud). Once again we're in Europe: the croatian whistle Danijel Janosevic is the winner of the Best Referee of the World category of the Umbro Futsal Awards 2010!
Mediterranean joy In twelve months full of sports satisfactions, one of the highest points of the year was surely given by the brand new experience in Libya. Danijel Janosevic was appointed as one of main referees in the great event organised by the Libyan Futsal Committee. It was just the successful run of the Croatian National Team the "guilty" for the missing participation of Danijel Janosevic in the tournament final. Janosevic was recognized as one of the best refs in the libyan challenge, doing great in the "delicate" semifinal between Libya and France.
A World Cup is forever It was probably something unusual for Danijel Janosevic, but he surely enjoyed his "adventure" in the first ever Women Futsal World Cup. The event held in Alcobendas and Torrejon De Ardoz had in Janosevic one of the most appreciated referees, as also shown in the thrilling semifinal between host Spain and the outstanding Portugal. Do you think that women futsal is less important than the men's one? We think you're missing something great!
Cup Main Round and Youth futsal: a complete year Janosevic offered great performances also during another important continental event like the UEFA Futsal Cup definitely is. Appointed for the Main Round group in Targu Mures, he officiated as first referee in the most important game of the group between Araz Naxcivan and City US Tārgu Mures. Last but not least he did his best in the international tournament Cittą di Policoro for Under 21 category nations.
No finals? Hard work pays off! Maybe some of you are wondering why we're giving the best referee of the world title to a whistle who missed some of the most important event finals during the year. The answer is quite easy: that's not a matter of quantity but quality! And the high standard of refereeing provided by Danijel Janosevic has been recognized by a large majority of experts from the referees world. If you don't believe that, just have a look at the appointments in the first part of the year 2011 (results of what achieved in 2010!): both the Intercontinental Cup games and the UEFA Futsal Cup final had one man in black in the pitch: Danijel Janosevic!
These are our reasons to crown Danijel Janosevic as winner of the Best Referee of the World category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2010 - 11th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
Special mention for... "a couple of girls" After paying tribute to Janosevic as deserving winner of the Best Referee of the World category, we are pleased to dedicate a special mention for both the italian Francesca Muccardo and the hungarian Lilla Perepatics, absolute main characters in the referees group officiating in Alcobendas and Torrejon de Ardoz during the 1st Women Futsal World Cup. This is development as well! Congrats to the women in black!
