It's almost the end! Tomorrow we will close this prestigious series of awards through the announce of the best player of the world in the year 2010. But now is time for the 8th category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2010 - 11th Edition by Futsalplanet.com, which will crown the Best Club on the international stage. If during the past edition the Carlos Barbosa's choice was quite easy, this time it has been definitely harder. We'have finally chosen a shining tale of professionalism (as well as talent and skills, obvious!) in the roster, for the reasons listed below. So, we keep on playing in Brazil though moving from Rio Grande Do Sul to Santa Catarina: Malwee/Cimed is the Best Club of the World in the year 2010!
Retroactive title Let's start from a "curious" fact happened recently. In a meeting held by Conmebol on past April 12th Malwee was declared winner of the Conmebol Futsal Cup 2009 (Sudamericano de Clubes or Libertadores, if you prefer!). "Declared" cause the supposed finalist Bello Innovar from Colombia could not give their availability to play in the competition final in the year 2010 (as this competition is chronically played late by Conmebol!). Sometimes the greatest squads get titles withouth entering the pitch, how strong they are! But, seriously, this would have surely been a title, if played, conquered during the past year, meaning for the catarinense roster the sixth one in a row, something impressive.
Superliga, the series goes on As we reported when celebrating Fernando Ferretti as best club coach of the year, the dreamed start went in March through the achievement of one more Superliga title, the fourth one on five editions played until 2010. After a season dominated by Carlos Barbosa that triumph in Betim seemed to be a good answer and a clear declaration of intent for the new year.
And now, the end is near Everybody knew, there were no secrets. The official note from the Malwee company came after the Liga Futsal final, but it was no surprise at all. End of sponsorship, end of a glorious and "rich" roster, end of the futsal elite in Jaraguà do Sul. Everybody knew: Lenisio to Petropolis, Falcão and Ferretti ready to move to Santos, many others market news in progress. Everybody knew but professionalism was the key why the whole roster kept on working hard. How could they have disappointed the Arena Jaraguà, lotada of yellow and blue fans? It was not time to leave a title to Copagril, they had to write a good ending of the Malwee tale. Did they succeed? Malwee 2 - Copagril 0. Have a look at the video below, the Leco's tears are the proof of that day feelings, the commentary about the Valdin goal tells everything about the Malwee spirit at that time: "foi puxado, foi agarrado, caiu, rodou, continuou na jogada e jogou a bola na rede". End credits can now appear on the screen.
Actually not, it's not the end But that was just the end of the Malwee chapter, not of the whole story. Have a look at the catarinense estadual league, cause the Associação Desportiva Jaraguá is still there on the pitch. Yeah, is another story but there's still life on the planet. Boa sorte: maybe more glorious chapters will come, now it's time to work on that.
