One more edition of the annual Futsalplanet.com Awards is here, and that’s the n° 12! Following a consolidated tradition we will inaugurate our worldwide party of futsal through the announce of the Best Woman Player of the World category winner, which reached its 5th edition and is becoming more and more popular with the increase of women futsal on domestic and international stage. You won’t believe but there’s still people wondering why do we include women futsal in our prizes… come on guys, try to enter the 21st century! Girls play futsal, girls officiate futsal games as referees and they definitely know how to do that! So now get ready for the first prize released through the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com. Somebody say we always change country and player in order to make “everybody happy” but that’s not true and here’s the proof: the brazilian star Vanessa is once again on the top of the world!
Humildade precisa-se There are many ways to “get” a “Best Player of the World” recognition. You can really think you’re the best with no more need to prove it outside, losing the way of your sports career. Otherwise that can be a good reason to “keep up the good work” with the same (or stronger!) attitude you had when, being a child, the only attendance for your games was guaranteed by your parents. Well, after taking track of the achievements reached and performances showed during the year 2011, we’re quite sure that Vanessa Cristina Pereira did the “right thing”.
Spanish life and then… back to titles There were no titles characterizing the european adventure of Vanessa, but the short part of season spent with Burela FS gave a definitive proof of her “star standard”. Though joining the Division De Honor just in January, Vanessa scored 18 goals in the league and two in the Copa de España in June. The cup tournament played at home was also the last apperance of Vanessa in Spain, as her brazilian heart called the futsal craque back to Chapecò.
A boa filha a casa torna “The importance of being Vanessa” was quite clear since the first day she was back, as her club UnoChapeco/Ntozzo/Female organised an event to welcome the n° 7 return. Her presence in Chapecò was maybe a reason more for her team mates in order to get one more title (4th for a club which is making history in women futsal) of the Liga Futsal, competition in which Vanessa could not play. But “playing” was just a matter of time, as the catarinense club moved to Portugal for a three-sides challenge. First step: “II Torneio Internacional Cidade de Espinho (TICE)”, mission accomplished. Top Scorer and Best Player of the tournament? Easy answer, Vanessa. Second part: victory over the Portuguese champions of Vermoim in the “Jogo da Consagração” (obviously including a goal by Vanessa!). Last but not least: third title in the Taça das Nações overcoming (also thanks to one best player of the world’s goal) the spanish side Atlético de Madrid Navalcarnero in the eagerly awaited final. Vanessa is back.
Jucs disappointment, immediate reaction (and what a reaction) Unbelievable but true Vanessa’s Unochapecò lost (vs Unesc/Criciúma) their first final in the Jucs games after conquering 17 titles in a row (in other words, winning everything since the last final lost in 2009, call it a record if you want!), but that was just a little mishap. After that the athlete from Patos de Minas was the absolute main character of the season, with her club as well as with the canarinhas shirt. Best player of the South American Women Futsal Championships in Venezuela, top scorer (11 goals) in the prestigious (and winning) Taça Brasil in Criciuma. The list is not over yet: JASC games in November and one more catarinense title in december. But the sweetest thing is posted below…
World Cup double How to write the word end on one more unforgettable year? In order to do that Vanessa was “just” in need to conquer the second edition of the Women Futsal World Cup. Not that easy. 38 minutes, 1 second, Rosangela Sousa scores one of the most important goals of her career. She’s brazilian but… surprise: her shirt is red. Spain is ahead in the grand final and everything seems lost for Brazil. But we told it: “everything seems”, cause Vanessa is ready to change the destiny of the game. 39’22, 43’07: one double for the worldwide apotheosis.
In our humble opinion, that’s certainly enough to celebrate, for the second year in a row, Vanessa as winner of the Best Woman Player of the World category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
