Dear futsal friends, the seventh day of our awards is dedicated to the national team coaches category but, above all, to the memory of our friend Dimitri Nicolaou. What Dimitri did in and for futsal is still with us, in our memories as well as through the pages of his great portal www.futsalhellas.com!. We miss you friend!
Now is time to celebrate the winner of the Best National Team Coach of the World category for the Umbro Futsal Awards 2011: the registry office knows him as Marcos Sorato Zopelini, but you can call him Pipoca!
Former player, good coach? As you probably know Pipoca has been a great player spending his brilliant career around Brazil and Spain. The matching between successful player and coach career is not always true, but the brazilian trainer is proving to be born for the bench accomplishing all the 2011 tasks in professional and winning manner.
New Brazil On past March, attending a coaching clinic in Padova (Italy) Pipoca provided the attendees with a good sample on the way to perceive the brazilian futsal chances to succeed. They were like a cyclist that celebrates his win before reaching the finish line (with the embarassing result to lose concentration and crashing down to the ground) and turned into defined characters, part of a clear and professional structure in which everyone has a basic role. In this process Pipoca professionalism was definitely a good resource to rely on.
Hat trick As mentioned when crowning Brazil as best national team of the world, the canarinhos year was characterized by three major events. The great merit of Pipoca was not to change the path of his work after losing to Russia in the Ekaterinburg friendly game: pressions were there, ready, as for sure Brazil is not accustomed to losing games on the futsal pitch. The new identity of Brazil was the same, though always changing rosters due to the inconstant availability of "foreign players". Hangzhou, Buenos Aires and Manaus: now Brazil celebrates just after the finish line, when the cup is in their hands.
Those are the reasons why Pipoca was just declared winner of the Best National Team Coach of the World - DIMITRI NICOLAOU AWARD category for the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
