Let's open the sixth day of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com! We've been sitting on the bench together with five great coaches who proved their high knowledge of the game during the past years. Who's has been the best one? There's something new in 2011, as the brazilian and spanish dominance (check the "hall of fame" posted below) is "finally" broken by the former coach of Montesilvano, Fulvio Colini. He's the winner of the Best Club Coach of the World category for the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011!
"He was here first" When the American Indians show their refusal to celebrate the Columbus Day, they use the well-known slogan "We were here first" and that, with regard to the current state of italian futsal, would definitely be the case of Fulvio Colini. An impressive experience in the elite gained since the roots of the sport in Italy, made the italian coach one of the top interpreters of this discipline though this point was just recognized in his country when he got the first national titles. Just one thing was missing: the continental and worldwide consecration.
Nobody will do it again Fulvio Colini is probably a little bit exaggerated when stating that no more italian clubs will win the UEFA Futsal Cup again, but one thing is for sure: the Montesilvano win has revolutionized the italian self-esteem in terms of futsal and the foreign consideration about it. Credits are obviously to be shared between different characters involved in the italian triumph, but the team spirit provided by Montesilvano during the past two years (basically between the 09/10 title and the UEFA Futsal Cup 10/11) is a Fulvio Colini's trademark. And that's the unrepeatable chapter of the story.
Boring? Effective is the word, the right one According to some professional critics the Fulvio Colini's way of playing is boring or excessively defensive. Arguable. Defense is a basic part of modern futsal, but Colini's teams are made of strong pression, concentration and a deep commitment to reach common goals. Intense and effective, that's the way they liked it and took them to hold the Cup. Eight goals scored and two suffered in the final four, keep on calling it boring if you dare.
There's enough stuff to announce the name of Fulvio Colini as winner of the Best Club Coach of the World category for the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!
