NFF invites 26 ahead of Fifa Futsal WC qualifiers - Twenty-six players have been invited for screening ahead of the FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifying match against Gabon. The encounter will take place in Lagos on Sunday, May 6. The players are drawn from the four teams that made it to the semi finals of last year's Ultimate Five-A-side National Football Championship.
The four teams are: Sholly Babes FC of Lagos, which emerged champions of the competition; MacJeff FC of Port Harcourt that finished runners-up; Inter FC of Enugu that won the bronze medal and; Pensioners FC of Enugu that finished in fourth place.
The Players are expected to resume training at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Saturday.
Oyekale said on Thursday that the players will train three times daily in order to catch up on lost time and due to the peculiar nature of five-a-side football, which is highly technical and also feeds on endurance level.
The winner of the fixture between Nigeria and Gabon will proceed to the final stage of the qualifiers, to play the winner of the fixture between Tunisia and Egypt.
This year's FIFA Futsal World Cup will hold in Thailand between 2nd - 18th November.Invited players
Those invited were: Onyekaozulu Okolo, Onwukanjo Chijioke, Onuoha Joseph, Okafor Ebuka, Chisom Akunebu, Chukwudi Nwokeye, Kingsley Sokre, Ginodon Julex and Okoh.
Others were: Tochukwu, Chukwudi Orlando, Pascal Chukwudi, Victor Ajuluchukwu, Chidindu Madu, Israel Banigo, Junior Ukwenga, Emmanuel Madu, Prince Napoleon and Oluwaseun Taro.
Taye Oche, Olaniyi Jejelola, Feinard Ahmed Abokede, N. Obomate, Michael Joel Okoro, Kabiru Nosiru Olumide, Ishola Kehinde and Jones Adefolahan Adepoju made up the list.
