If you don't believe in fate, well maybe it's time to begin now. Or maybe it was just pure accident, tu decides
(you decide, your choice!) as they say in Spain.
What happened then? On April 28th in the historical Ciutat de Castelló
the saddest day came true when Playas De Castellon
lost 4-6 to Gáldar Gran Canaria
and were relegated in Segunda División B
(the division formerly known as Primera Nacional A and run by the Comité Nacional de Fútbol Sala - CNFS).
Two relegations in a row to "abandon" the LNFS
world, unbelievable but true. April 28th, the "rest-day" of the UEFA Futsal Cup Final 4
in Lleida. Yeah, the UEFA Futsal Cup: their tournament, their trophy, their "private property" in the early years of the continental challenge. 10 years are gone, on the Playas' banquillo
was sitting Tino Perez
, the same man you saw on the Dinamo bench in Lleida. Things of futsal.
triumph will now hide the Playas de Castellon's relegation as well as nobody is no longer talking about the Benicarlo
's disappearance. Things of futsal, again.
But you know, when gods fall
you must start on asking yourself if something is getting wrong or if it's just a matter of time that goes by, given the fact that not everything last forever.Cobeta
(who soon left the squad), el "sceriff" Lorente
, Ferreira (do you remember the great "Ferry"?)
. Those "old but great" guys were not enough to save Playas. Not even the Raúl Manjón
's talent or two prolific pivots like Rafa Muñoz
. The Fran Torres
experience on the bench could not make it this time.
Even gods can fall down, but futsal doesn't exist just for the elite and Playas De Castellon
(as happened for the former Malwee/Jaraguà which is still running in the catarinense competitions as well as in the Liga Futsal 2012) can keep up their magnificent and glorious history, maybe also working to come back at the highest stages.
There has been a time in which rivals' legs were shaking when facing the albiazul shirts but now it's over or just "suspended", time will talk.
Are we supposed to wish good luck to Playas now? Nope. Confianza y trabajo, la suerte es para los malos toreros. AUPA PLAYAS!!
