No more futsal players as Danish FA seals deal with union

Sept 29 (Reuters)

The Danish Football Association will no longer have to call on futsal players and amateurs after the DBU sealed a new six-year collective-bargaining agreement with the nation's senior international players.

Lower-division players and indoor soccer specialists were drafted in for the 3-0 friendly defeat to Slovakia in September after the DBU and senior players failed to reach an agreement over commercial rights and other outstanding issues.

A temporary arrangement saw household names like Christian Eriksen return for their 2-0 win over Wales in the UEFA Nations League a few days later, and both sides announced on Saturday that they had now resolved their differences.

"The CBA ensures orderly conditions for all the national team player's in the years to come, and I can speak for all the national team players when I say that we look forward to keeping our focus on playing football for Denmark and nothing else," team captain Simon Kjaer said in a statement.

The DBU board said it was pleased with the agreement made with the players' association but it sounded a note of caution in its statement, saying that the deal "requires better and more trustworthy co-operation" than has existed in the recent past.
