Myanmar youth futsal team to compete in AFC U-20 Championship qualifiers

The 2019 AFC U-20 championship qualification’s ASEAN Zone competition is scheduled to be held on December 5-8 in Thailand.

Myanmar Under-19 futsal team left for Thailand this morning to participate in this AFC qualifier.

Although the matches will begin on December 5, Myanmar team arrived one week in advance with plans to play warm-up matches during the period. Myanmar will play friendly matches against Thailand- based Futsal clubs from November 29 to December 1.

A famous local fusal coach U Htay Myint has managed this youth team taking along with him 18 players in this journey. After the warming-up matches, he’ll select 14 players for the competition.

Myanmar is in ASEAN Zone with host Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. The top three teams will qualify for the next stage.

Myanmar is scheduled to play against Malaysia as opening match on December 5 followed by the matches against Vietnam on December 6, Thailand on December 7 and Indonesia on December 8 respectively.

Totally, 23 teams entered the AFC U-20 championship competition. The qualification was divided into four zones. They are ASEAN Zone, Central Zone, East Zone and West Zone.

A total of 12 teams will be qualified to play in the final tournament next year.
