Bad news from CONMEBOL
No Copa América challenges in 2021

Two more tournaments cancelled, no good news and little hope for futsal in South America. As released yesterday by the argentinean portal

the 2021 Copa América men and women tournaments won't be played, as confirmed by an official note signed by
CONMEBOL
.
The usual reason given for such a painful decision is related to Covid 19 concerns, besides the futsal tournaments more youth football challenges were cancelled (some of them due to the fact that were qualifying tournaments for competitions already cancelled by FIFA).
Concerns, then. Something that in some continents seems to exist just for the "poor categories" like youth football, futsal and beach soccer but never for professional football. Asia has already shown that a tournament could be hosted and played (as proved by the recent Continental Futsal Championship) but some Confederations seem to have found an easy way to avoid efforts and troubles.
Very tough news, especially for women's futsal which is in desperate need of international competitions to prove its great value and dream about a future World Cup.
